Living Anew Therapeutic Massage is the product of 9 years in the business of bodywork and massage as well as lifetime of experiences beginning with childhood sports, college athletics, spirituality and healing, beautiful teachers, and a car wreck. We all have our stories to share. A past which brought us to the person we see in the mirror. What if we loved those stories and let them go? You know, focused on the present and the steps we are taking to create the tomorrow we want. Literally, Living Anew. To live in a new or different and usually a more positive way. Through a combination of structural massage and bodywork techniques to release physical tension and stress management  and self-care education, hopefully you, too, will begin to Live Anew.

About

Owner, Megan (Crystal) Mendes, would like everyone to choose health and wellness for themselves through Massage Therapy and Bodywork, stress management by way of exercise, sleep, and proper nutrition, as well as positive thought. Living Anew Therapeutic Massage is dedicated to empowering you to do just that.

Hi!

I'm Megan, owner and lead massage therapist at Living Anew Therapeutic Massage.

I've spent over 22 years helping people move better, hurt less, and better understand their bodies. My journey began at the University of Oklahoma, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sports Sciences while competing in Shot Put and Discus for the OU Track Team. My own experiences with sports injuries and recovery led me to pursue bodywork, and I went on to earn an Associate Degree in Therapeutic Massage after completing a 1,200-hour massage therapy program at Heritage College in Oklahoma City.

Over the years, I've continued to study a wide range of techniques—including Deep Tissue, Anatomy Trains Structural Integration, Myofascial Release, Active and Passive Release, Joint Mobilization, PNF Stretching, Sports Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Prenatal and Postnatal Massage, Cupping Therapy, Aromatherapy, Acupressure, and more. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I blend these techniques to create a session tailored specifically to your body and your goals.

I also believe our bodies reflect the stress we carry. Emotional strain, demanding jobs, difficult relationships, and everyday life all influence how we feel physically. While massage can't solve every problem, I believe education, awareness, and self-care are powerful tools for creating lasting change.

When you come in for a session, my goal isn't simply to help you feel better for an hour—it's to help you understand why your body feels the way it does and give you practical tools you can use between appointments. Every session is built on listening, education, communication, and healing strategies.

I'm also a Certified Educator of Infant Massage (CEIM) through the International Association of Infant Massage and Infant Massage USA, where I teach parents and caregivers how nurturing touch strengthens bonding, attachment, and healthy development. It's work I'm incredibly passionate about because I believe it helps build more connected families and more compassionate children.

A Little More About Me

I was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and after living in Louisiana and Oklahoma, I made Austin home in 2006. These days you'll usually find me spending time with my husband, Brian, and our cats, Mingus and Coltrane. Outside the office I love live music, hiking, paddling Texas rivers, tending my vegetable garden, cooking, and occasionally enjoying a good movie with no agenda at all.

Austin has given me an incredible community, and I'm grateful for every person who has trusted me with their care over the years.

Most importantly, everyone is welcome here. Living Anew is a safe, inclusive space where you'll be treated with kindness, respect, and compassion—regardless of who you are or where you come from. Everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, and cared for.

Much gratitude,

Megan
